As I was scrolling Threads just now, a comment I saw on a Facebook post the other day popped into my head. The ‘poster’ commented or questioned someone’s self-awareness. Which made my eyes roll back into my head. That’s pretty much a daily occurrence. Just like shaking my damn head! I’ve said it, and I saw someone else say it: there has to be some calorie burn to that. Maybe I’ll put my Apple Watch on a headband and see how many steps it registers in a day.
Anyway.
I find a lot of things curious these days. Mostly when someone says something about someone, more than likely one they know nothing about, yet it is said with such conviction. How does that work?
Self-awareness is the ability to recognize and understand one’s own personality, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. It involves being aware of how these aspects influence oneself and how one is perceived by others.
So. Someone saying something that you disagree with has nothing to do with their self-awareness. It is your own.
When someone states a fact, or a law, or an actual reality, self-awareness has absolutely nothing to do with the statement.
Or maybe I can say, if you support the current occupant of the Oval Office, you support and find nothing wrong with corruption, fraud, crimes against humanity, women being sexually assaulted, and infidelity.
I know my own traits, emotions, and motivations.
Traits – I consider myself someone of strong character and integrity.
Emotion – I know how I feel about someone getting away with crimes and indiscretion.
Motivation – My motivation is to diligently with absolute discernment seek the truth of a situation and the resulting impact of that situation on other human beings. I believe that my traits allow me to wade through the lies, to see the corruption, the indecency, and speak out against every bit of it.
The current occupant of the Oval Office, the once most respected office in the world, is stealing your money. Using your government (and money) to frivolously go after people who have spoken truth. People who have legitimately won in an actual legitimate court of law against him. Or who have charged him with legitimate crimes he has been found guilty of. He is the true ‘witch hunter’. With him it is not “innocent until proven guilty”. With him it is I don’t like them, they are mean to me, make them guilty of something. Even if it’s ridiculously lame … 8647!
I’m not and have never ever been the smartest one anywhere. But I read, I listen, I do all I can to try to understand all sides of what is happening.
What I see is absolute abject and willful. And for what? Nothing that you didn’t already have that you would never lose. What I truly believe that most do not understand, is that regardless, nothing you think you are keeping because of your support of him is not safe. Nothing is sacred to him. Nothing matters to him. Forcing his name on a list, a building, a piece of paper is all he has, all he will ever have. None of which will benefit you or any one of us.
You have your religion. You have your beliefs, some of which are deadly. Pro ICE, Pro Military, Pro Life, Pro 2A. Some of which right now do not exist and are being bastardized every day by ‘your leader’ the number one offender. Military, Law Enforcement, Accountability, simple Human Rights. Those are all being impacted and diminished to the point of non-existence.
Once Law Enforcement or Human Rights are watered down to the point of extinction, how do we get them back? I don’t know that we do. Once one family is protected from breaking any laws, committing any crime against you, me, anyone, how do we get back from that? I don’t know that we do.
If you are such a believer, how will you justify your judgement of others, others you know nothing about? Others that you have no way of knowing their heart or their truth. If there is one, how will you answer to that on your judgement day? I do not believe that personal redemption is obtained by support of a financially and morally bankrupt bully. One who does not and will not on his own or through anyone else’s efforts be held accountable for not just his lawlessness, but his remarkable indecency to humanity.
